Have you ever heard of Martin Luther King Jr? He has helped a huge part of the world in terms of peace and rights equality, and he even has a landmark made for him, it is named a Landmark for Peace Memorial. It represents the dreams he had for a better world and even better equality.
It was built in order to keep peace, especially in the area in which it was built. And, it has even lowered the number of riots that happened around it. The Landmark for Peace is a memorial sculpture situated in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park on the Northside of Indianapolis. It honors the contributions of the slain leaders Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. The memorial, which features Kennedy and King reaching out to each other, was designed and executed by Indiana artist Greg Perry. The bronze portraits were created by Indianapolis sculptor Daniel Edwards.
This is why it is really important to remember that equality and rights are something to never forget. It is essential for our society. And this memorial gives tribute to it in an incredible way. This gives a new dimension to the fight for better rights for everyone.
The memorial helps visitors to experience the world through Dr. King’s eyes, and is inspired by a famous quote from his “I have a Dream” speech; “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” Just like the struggles of real life, visitors start their visit to the park by walking through the Mountain of Despair and then, by the end, they arrive at the Stone of Hope.
